Stars of 2017
|The Highland Music Company – First place
The Highland Music Company has performed around Southern California playing addictive familiar melodies with a modern twist. The artists have captured imaginations and delighted crowds by specializing in rock based party music and performing an Elvis tribute show. The talented and nervy entertainers are family friendly and community focused.
|Rachel Saiz, Singer – Second place
Rachel Saiz has 13 years of experience onstage. Her favorite theatre credits include: Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), A Chorus Line (Diana Morales), The Who’s Tommy (Mrs. Walker), Tarzan the musical (Jane Porter), Jekyll & Hyde (Lucy), and Evita (Eva Duarte de Peron). Rachel is passionate about empowering people through musical theatre, especially women.
|Sagarika Chidella, Singer/songwriter – Third place
Sagarika is 15 years old and has been singing ever since she was young. She learns theater songs, western classical and Indian classical vocal and plays the guitar. She loves all kinds of music and likes to experiment with mash-ups, medleys, and fusions of different music styles. Sagarika uploads covers on YouTube and Instagram every now and then to share her music with the rest of the world and also gives stage performances.
|Ember Foley, Singer/songwriter
Since a very young age Ember has had a passion for being a singer and songwriter. She has written and recorded over 20 original songs. She loves playing the guitar, ukulele and singing from morning ’til night.
Ember is a senior at Redlands East Valley High School, where she also plays several sports in addition to pursuing her passion for music. She loves hanging out with her friends and plans to pursue a career in music once she is done with high school.
|Danny & Alissa, Ballroom dance
Danny and Alissa are ballroom dancers and instructors at Fox Dance Studio right here in Redlands. Danny and Alissa recently competed in the professional smooth division at the Beach Bash ballroom competition in San Diego. They are very excited to perform their Waltz,Tango,Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz routines for you!
|Hanna Johnson, Singer/songwriter
Hanna has been singing since the second grade, first with lessons. She then discovered that she loves to write music and play multiple instruments. She is 16 years old and hopes to be a professional musician.
Jim has been on stage since he can remember, as his dear mother encouraged him to be an actor, singer, musician and artist his whole life. He listened. Jim is now the Artistic Director of Inland Stage, a local, non-profit performing arts and media collective.
|Gina and Xochitl, Tir Ruaidh Irish Dance Company
Gina Goldschmidt, a senior at Yucaipa High School and Xochitl Brinton, a 6th grader at Beattie Middle School in Highland, are members of Tir Ruaidh Irish Dance Company. The local dance company has gained international acclimation for it’s dancer’s many accomplishments. Gina holds the 2016 European Title, the 2016 All Ireland Title as well as the 2016 World Title. Xochitl Brinton is Tir Ruaidh’s youngest champion dancer and one of the most decorated. Xochitl holds the 2016 European Title, the 2016 All Ireland Title as well as the 2016 World Title. Gina and Xochitl are very dedicated to their art and are currently training to compete at the 2017 World Championships.
In addition, the event featured guest musical performances by Bagpiper Tress Maksimuk and a cappella singing group Rhymes with Orange:
|Tress Maksimuk, the Dark Isle Piper is a Musician, Composer, Performer, Instructor, and Recording artist of the Great Highland Bagpipes. Teaching is her passion. She has worked with the great Richard Sherman, roles as the Performing Bagpiper on TV’s Outlander, and recently appeared on the Harry Connick, Jr. television program. She lives in Yucaipa, enjoys her husband and two teenage daughters, training for triathalons, and traveling.|
|What Rhymes with Orange? Singing without instruments! We are six friends who love to make music together. We pull from many styles, including jazz, pop, classical, spirituals, or whatever else floats our boat.
